Meet the Team
John Ting
Managing Director
Piano Teacher

Originally from Malaysia, John moved to Christchurch in 2018 to pursue a double degree in Music and Economics at the University of Canterbury. He started learning piano and music theory at a young age and later obtained a diploma in piano performance.
John has been teaching piano to students of various ages and skill levels. His teaching approach is centered around patience, positivity, and creating an engaging and enjoyable learning environment. He believes in striking a balance between fundamentals and enjoyment to ensure a fulfilling learning experience. Nurturing a child's interest in music is a key aspect of his teaching philosophy.
John's background as a church pianist, along with his talents in songwriting, composition, arrangement, and singing recording, gives him a well-rounded and distinctive musical perspective. Being fluent in both Mandarin and English allows him to effectively communicate and bridge any language barriers that may arise.

Cassia Broadley
Piano, Ukulele, Group Class Teacher
Cassia is a passionate music teacher with over a decade of piano experience and a deep love for sharing her musical knowledge. She began her piano lessons at a young age, studied within the ABRSM curriculum, and started her teaching journey in 2022. Her high school education in music provided her with a strong musical foundation and extensive knowledge in music theory.

Passionate about inspiring children and young people, Cassia enjoys introducing them to the world of music. She loves exploring new instruments and has experimented with the saxophone, recorder, ukulele, guitar, and mandolin. Her experience includes playing the saxophone in a jazz band, which reinforced her belief that making music with others is essential for nurturing a lasting love for the art. In addition to playing the piano and guitar at church, she loves singing hymns and musical theatre in her free time.

With years of experience working with young children in music, sports, recreation, and holiday programmes, Cassia is skilled at uncovering and fostering each child’s talents. She understands that each child is different, works at their own pace, and has their own skill set. She is focused on finding the best way to inspire each unique student to actively pursue their musical education and have fun while doing so.

​Cassia is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Speech and Language Pathology, aiming to enhance communication skills and connect with people on a deeper level. She believes that music is a universal language that allows for profound and meaningful connections between people and is excited to share that with you all.
Faith Tan
Piano Teacher
Faith learned piano from a young age and is well-versed in both the ABRSM syllabus and the Suzuki method. She also has experience in tutoring programs and working in refugee schools, which has helped her develop strong communication skills and the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
She is sweet and approachable and is especially patient with young children, giving them space to explore and time to understand. She creates a warm and supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and express themselves. Faith places great importance on building solid fundamentals and helping students develop proper technique, while also making sure the lessons are enjoyable and engaging to keep students motivated.
Max Millman
Drum Teacher
Max Millman is a passionate Tutor whom has taught for a variety of different organisations in both one-on-one and group lesson settings over the last 14 years in Wellington. He has transcribed drums for hundreds of songs for students over the years, and is more than happy to continue to do so in order to teach clients the music they love.
He uses unique, progressive methods of tuition, such as interactive games and data collection/analysis, in order to help achieve quantifiable, optimum educational outcomes. Max’s unique curriculum on music theory (RapidRhythm) has been used to great success in both individual and group settings, and uses an interactive software-based approach for more engaging and effective learning.
He is also experienced in tutoring NCEA, Trinity and ABRSM material, and therefore is happy to assist with graded exams. Max sees the value in music as a medium of expression and creativity, working closely with clients to help them create and achieve musical goals.

Whether it’s Pop, Rock, Metal Rap or anything in between, Max will bring the latest techniques and technologies to the table in order to assist clients with learning the music that inspires them, driving them in a positive direction toward mastery. He will also provide support in composition, performances, and other aspects of music, helping them learn the skills to perform at their best both on and off the stage.
Albert Sebastian
Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar Teacher
Albert brings a wealth of experience and a friendly, encouraging teaching style to our music school. Originally from Indonesia, he taught guitar to over 30 students at a music school there, earning a reputation for effectively guiding children in their musical journey.

Now based in Christchurch, Albert is not only a talented guitar player at a local church but also a passionate teacher who knows how to make learning guitar enjoyable and stress-free. His vibrant personality and warm laughter always light up the room, creating a positive and lively atmosphere that makes every lesson a joy.

Albert's lessons are thoughtfully designed to help students learn guitar in the most effective way. Whether you are just starting out or looking to improve your skills, Albert’s expertise and encouraging approach will inspire you to grow and enjoy the process.
Zikai Hu
Acoustic Guitar Teacher
Zikai has played guitar for almost 10 years and is currently studying for a Music degree at the University of Canterbury, majoring in guitar. He is attentive and ensures that the learning pace suits each student. He is calm and patient, creating a relaxed environment where students can feel comfortable exploring their musical abilities.
In his lessons, he focuses on teaching the fundamentals of music theory, along with strumming, singing while playing, and various fingerstyle guitar techniques. Depending on the student’s progress, he also guides them in composing their own music or arranging their favorite pieces. His goal is to ensure that students develop a comprehensive understanding of the guitar and music as a whole.
Kien Ngo
Violin Teacher
Kien is a passionate and experienced violin tutor with a strong background in both solo and ensemble performance. He achieved Excellence in NCEA Level 1, 2, and 3 Music and has been an active member of the Canterbury orchestral community for years. Kien played in the Regional Canterbury High School Orchestra for three years — first as a guest player, then as first violin, and later as concertmaster. He then joined the Christchurch Youth Orchestra, progressing from Associate Violin II to Violin II Leader for two years, and now plays as First Violin.

Kien balances technique and creativity in his teaching, helping students develop solid skills while expressing themselves musically. He keeps lessons interactive and focused on clear goals, making progress easy to track and building students' confidence as they play.
Cecily Holland
Cello Teacher
